Members of the Rotary Club of Paddington
2008-2009
We provide funds to Westminster Schools for a day out for deprived children between the ages of 8 and 12 to Paradise Wildlife Park
- Connections at St Martin’s (Lord Mayor of Westminster chosen charity, 2004/2005)
- Beauchamp Lodge Floating Classroom (continuing support for equipment)
- City of Westminster Children with disabilities unit (siblings group)
- Hampden Gurney C of E School (equipment and material for the school library)
- Connaught Opera (Concerts at local hospitals)
- St Mary's Hospital Paddington (our local hospital and important to re-establish contact especially after the recent events and the role it played).
- We have been involved with Drug awareness projects in schools and have part funded a Rotary mobile unit for that purpose.
- We have also sponsored one of our Honorary members on an Around Britain cycling tour.
- We donate annually about L500 for Christmas food hampers for the elderly (Help the Aged).
- Westminster Volunteers Bureau Charities helped in the past; involved with over the past five years.
- Portobello Trust.
- Awarding Paul Harris fellows to worthy recipients, both in our community and club.
- Rotary International Certificates of Professional Excellence
- All Stars Youth Club Harrow Road (boxing and gym equipment and vocational training funding).
International Service Projects
- A sum of L1,000 was raised and sent to a Rotary club in Thailand for help with their own Tsunami relief and reconstruction project.
- Jason’s chosen Club Rotaract Project (for help in local school building work East Africa).
- Aqua Boxes for Darfur, Sudan.
- School AID for provision of paint for classrooms in Zimbabwe schools.
- We have a joint project under way with the Rotary clubs of Hasselt ( Belgium ) and Arusha. This project will refurbish a remote medical centre and supply it with equipment. The cost is around L5,000 to be raised by the clubs.
