DAVID AND VIKKI ANDREWS' CURRY LUNCH, 17 September 2006

On a glorious Sunday in September David and Vikki Andrews hosted at their flat near Hyde Park a curry Lunch.   Many of our members and friends of theirs, who all support Rotary, were grandly supplied with a wonderful curry and of course a plentiful supply of wine and beer.

Fortunately, the weather was perfect, so we sat out on his glorious patio and enjoyed the company and of course the food. A glorious afternoon and a substantial amount of money was raised for the Paddington Rotary projects! Well done David and Vikki!

DAVID AND SUE FORMOSA'S GARDEN PARTY:

The Club held a very successful garden party in July, hosted by David and Sue Formosa. It was a beautiful sunny day with plenty to eat and drink, enjoyed by the members and their guests and friends.

It raised over £1200 pounds, much needed by the Club, if it is to fulfill its programme of supporting other organisations in Paddington and overseas.

CALAIS TRIP:
The most successful regular event that the Rotary Club of Paddington organises is our day trip to Calais. For the last 10 years it has raised over £12,000.00 for local deserving causes and or overseas projects. This event is organised by David Andrews, our own Mr Paddington. It usually takes place in October. The coach leaves Sussex Gardens at 8.00 am and we either take the ferry to Calais or the coach goes on the train. We then travel to a restaurant just outside Calais and have a wonderful 4 course meal with unlimited wine and coffee. Afterwards we go to a large supermarket where to buy wine, champagne, food etc. The return is normally by the train to arrive in Sussex Gardens at around 8.00 pm.

So if you want to join the party and have a fun day out with enjoyable company keep looking into our Website for the exact details and for the date that has not yet been fixed.

Hope you and your friends can join us this year!!! Click here to find out more about it.

ALL STARS :
requested for funding for possible Olympic athlete (boxer).  The applicant that has already been named is Suma Brown, 13 years old. He is one of the best junior boxers to pass through the All Stars ranks. He is also a top footballer and has been offered a place in one of the football academies. On Tuesday 13th September Akay will brought along Suma Brown to the meeting and a list of the competitions he will be entered for in a season will be submitted. Selections for the England under 19s would be when he reaches 16 years of age, assuming the goals are achieved, i.e. junior ABA champion etc. The candidate's father is a former boxer who was trained and managed by Akay in his fighting days.
